SESSION OF THE EXPERT AND ADVISORY COUNCIL UNDER THE COUNCIL OF THE FEDERATION COMMITTEE ON CONSTITUTIONAL LEGISLATION

On 28.11.2018 the L&P attorney Tatiana Tsepkina attended the session of the Expert and Advisory Council of the Council of the Federation Committee on Constitutional Legislation  assembled to confront the issue of professional risks of law practitioners.
The Russian legal community is deeply troubled by the recently forming jurisprudence that rules in favor of recovery from the attorneys of fees received for legal assistance to insolvent clients, as well as frequent attempts at criminal prosecution of attorneys in connection with receiving of fees (including success fees). Seasoned experts pointed out that the current practice restricts the access of citizens to qualified legal assistance, including cases, which require representation in the courts of law.
