On 27/04/2022 attorney Alexander Linnikov in his comment to RIA NOVOSTI explained to the readers of the Russian national news agency the legal implications of exchange of the Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko for US citizen Trevor Reed, earlier convicted by the Russian court to 9 years of imprisonment for assault on police officers. As a result of the exchange, Yaroshenko, who in the US has served 12 years out of the 20 year prison term appointed by the American court for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to transport illegal narcotics, was released and safely returned to Russia. According to the founder of Linnikov & Partners, release of Yaroshenko as a result of the exchange for an American felon does not entail prosecution in the Russian Federation or further serving of the sentence appointed by the US court.
