Alexander Linnikov is the founder of the firm and leader of the solid L&P team since 2002. At the time of establishment of the professional association that substituted the obsolete structure of the firm in 2007 Alexander was unanimously selected Chairman of the Council of the newly founded bar association.
Alexander graduated magna cum laude from the International Law Department of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (the MGIMO University) in 1999 and two years later received a magna cum laude master degree from the European Law Institute of the MGIMO. However attractive were his career opportunities in many different spheres at that time, Alexander consciously chose to pursue a private law practice. At the time of joining the Moscow Regional Bar Association in 2001 Alexander, then only 22 years old, became one of the youngest attorneys of the Russian bar. In 2016 Alexander Linnikov was named the Honorary Advocate of the Moscow Regional Chamber of Advocates.
Today Alexander’s practice focuses primarily on banking and financial law, significant M&A transactions, complex economic crimes cases and development of legislative initiatives. Alexander personally supervises the work of Linnikov & Partners lawyers and attorneys with foreign clients. He leads the private consulting group that handles our clients’ personal affairs in Russia and abroad and represents Russian and foreign shareholders in the boards of directors of joint-venture companies and banks.
Alexander devotes a great deal of time and effort to academic research. Since the mid-1990’s he studies theorey and practice of banking supervision in the European Union and Russia. Alexander has published over two dozens of articles and books on matters of international, European, and Russian law. Some of his works were written in foreign languages and published abroad. Alexander has contributed to several editions of the fundamental European Law textbook published by the EU Law Department of the Moscow State Law University. Alexander’s publications are based on profound research of Russian and foreign sources that is facilitated by remarkable English, Italian, and German skills. Alexander Linnikov was recieved a doctor’s degree in legal science in 2008. In 2016 he was Associate Professor of the Department of Word Economy and International Finance of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. Professor Linnikov teaches courses closely related to his professional practice — International Business and the Basics of International Entrepreneurship and Legal Discipline of International Business — to undergraduate and masters’ students.
