On December 16, 2013 LEAD Consulting partner Alexander Linnikov attended the joint session of the Council of the Federation Committees on Constitutional Legislation, Legal and Judicial Affairs and Civil Society Development, on Social Policy and on the Federal Structure, Regional Policies, Local Self-Governance, and Affairs of the North. The session on inter-ethnic and migration aspects of national security of Russia was organized by the Chancellery of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Legal and Judicial Affairs and Civil Society Development.
Reports at the session were delivered by the President of the Council of the Federation Valentina Matvienko, Minister of Regional Development Igor Sluniayev, Head of the Federal Migration Service Konstantin Romodanovsky, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Konstantin Kosachev, members of the Council of the Federation, representatives of the Security Council, the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Investigative Committee, the Ministry of Interior, and members of the public that also participated in the subsequent discussion.
Participants of the session discussed the most important issues of migration policy and inter-ethnic relations in modern Russia. The President of the Council of the Federation Valentina Matvienko emphasized that insufficient control over immigration significantly preoccupies the citizens of Russia and causes public distress and proposed to develop the Migration Code of the Russian Federation.
