On 12/04/2023 Alexander Linnikov, the founder of L&P and Chairman of the Board of the National Payment Council, informed the viewers of the news program of the MOSCOW-24 TV channel about the prospects of replacing Ingenico POS terminals in the Russian retail network. French company Ingenico, which, according to some estimates, holds up to 50% of the Russian market of payment terminals, decided to cease business in Russia in mid-2022. However, according to Alexander Linnikov, the departure of a major player from the Russian market will not cause significant negative consequences for consumers of payment services. Parallel import of the necessary equipment and gradual replacement of the existing Ingenico POS terminals with comparable imported and domestic analogues will make the departure of a foreign manufacturer almost invisible. In other words, nothing threatens the stability of the acquiring infrastructure of the national payment system of Russia.
